Local Initiatives
Origins Gallery hopes that we all can work together to make a positive change in our community. Here are just a few of the Initiatives we are implementing and planning internally and for our local art scene.

PUZZLE COUPONS
During our grand opening, we passed out odd little pieces of paper with an image spray painted on them. When you placed five of the images together, it made a HEART design. Twelve local businesses agreed to honor each puzzle piece as an exclusive shortsale coupon, good for various discounts and special buys at their stores and restaurants. The short sale is only good until February 28th, so get shopping! About 150 coupons were made, and we ended the night with about 50 left. This initiative helps build relationships between the local businesses and the arts, and will hopefully help stimulate local economy on Main St. Stroudsburg.

PROJECT FIRST STEP

ORIGINS OF ART
The very word "origins" means 1. ancestry and 2. rise, beginning. Where does art come from? What constitutes as "art"? Does art stop being art when the creator is no longer with us? Origins plans on revealing two never before seen collections from two prolific artists that have touched the lives of many. One collection from an artist who accomplished much in the creative industries, and the other of someone who's work never saw a public audience. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting unprecendened iniative.

more!
More than two decades ago, Origins Gallery founder Jody Singer ran "Project First Step" out of his former Hands in Art Community Art Center. The program was meant to give emerging artists the chance to plan and experience their first gallery exhibit. Since then, the project has reformulated around Origins Gallery's only Artist in Residence Bradley Bartholomew (aka BAMBIE) a disabled youth from Stroudsburg. Through Mr. Singer's instruction, Brad has created an ever-growing portfolio of paintings and illustrations, learning necessary social and life skills in the process. Not only has he learned much about art and how to work in a gallery, but he's also managed to sell quite a few pieces of his own work! We love seeing what Brad comes up with next!
